Hi! Below you'll find the PDF and Google Docs versions of the “Credo Text Set.” A few pointers:
- Ideally, this assignment should be as quick as it can be because it's probably not a part of your usually scheduled curriculum. With that said, even though there are four different “texts” to choose from, they might not all be worth using with your kids. For example, I'll probably just print the Jorge Bergoglio credo and the Google search results texts for my own students — the Steve Jobs and “Pizza Delivery Guy” pieces are interesting, but they take my kids deeper into this topic than I feel is necessary. In other words, don't just chuck all these texts at your kids because they're there
- Preview each text for vocabulary that might get in your kids' way. Preview these words with your kids. Limit the preview to 10 words per text, maximum.
- Use, adapt, or ignore the possible response options, but don't waste time modifying the Google Doc just for that. C'mon, your time is precious — if you're using a text and you don't want your kids to use a response option at the end of it, just tell your kids to cross it out when you give it to them. And yes, a few of your kids will do it anyway. That's fine — they get to do some extra writing and that never hurt anyone.
Without further ado, here's the text set:
- The PDF version of the text set (recommended; cover image removed to minimize file size)
- The Google Docs version (it's set at “Anyone with the link can view;” I don't respond to Google Docs share requests. To be able to edit the Google Doc, go to File > Make a Copy. There you go — all yours
