Below, I'll give you some of the details folks often want when they visit this page. But first, let me plainly state why this site exists.
I believe that schools exist to promote the long-term flourishing of young people by teaching them toward mastery of the disciplines of school. Schools do this best, I find, when their teachers are flourishing, too. I make this site, word by word, in an effort to equip and encourage teachers and leaders toward this.
In all of my work, I'm aimed at the timeless and fundamental principles upon which a school building's momentum can shift. Once we understand and apprentice ourselves to these principles, the work gets simpler, less needlessly complicated. The meetings get productive, less perfunctory. Curriculum gets stronger. Instruction improves. Expertise develops.
And with these, student achievement follows.
