I like informal logic, modal logic, possible world semantics and metaphysics. It’s just my interests and hobbies.

A classic in the field. Very helpful to teachers coping with the Common Core State Standards for critical reading and writing (provides the foundation for developing effective lessons even though it is not a book aimed at teachers).

This was one of those life-changing books for me and I am so glad that it was recommended right as I started graduate school.
I would recommend this to researchers of any discipline, and even to law students.

It is a quite dense and sometimes redundant. If you read a few papers or other texts that summarize the general theory you will probably get a better grasp of this book contents,

When even your professor says he wishes there was a different book in existence to teach the same concepts you know you're in for a trip. I am not a philosophy or rhetoric major so maybe this kind of writing is more common in those fields, but this is extremely difficult to understand. The writer talks in circles, claiming to elucidate things and elucidates absolutely nothing. He asks questions and never gives answers, and can’t even stay on his own topic. If you are looking to read this for your own enjoyment I wouldn’t recommend it unless you are used to reading writing by philosophers. If you are required to read it for a class, good luck!

A thought-provoking reasoned discussion of language that is as relevant today as it was when published over fifty years-ago.
