- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI like informal logic, modal logic, possible world semantics and metaphysics. It’s just my interests and hobbies.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2013Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseA classic in the field. Very helpful to teachers coping with the Common Core State Standards for critical reading and writing (provides the foundation for developing effective lessons even though it is not a book aimed at teachers).
- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2013Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis was one of those life-changing books for me and I am so glad that it was recommended right as I started graduate school.
I would recommend this to researchers of any discipline, and even to law students.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2018Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI like to read it and help me understands the various philosophical ways to make an argument.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt is a quite dense and sometimes redundant. If you read a few papers or other texts that summarize the general theory you will probably get a better grasp of this book contents,
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2015Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseWell written and thorough. Very informative
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhen even your professor says he wishes there was a different book in existence to teach the same concepts you know you're in for a trip. I am not a philosophy or rhetoric major so maybe this kind of writing is more common in those fields, but this is extremely difficult to understand. The writer talks in circles, claiming to elucidate things and elucidates absolutely nothing. He asks questions and never gives answers, and can’t even stay on his own topic. If you are looking to read this for your own enjoyment I wouldn’t recommend it unless you are used to reading writing by philosophers. If you are required to read it for a class, good luck!
