Brand new book!

Brand new book!
I was hesitant to buy the book because of the negative reviews left on here stating that they ordered “new” books and they received “used” or “wet” books. I took a gamble and ordered it. I got a brand new book. This book was recommended by my graduate school professor to help with our papers. Looking forward to using it!

It served its purpose. It was a required textbook for one of my college courses. We only used it for one assignment and then never looked at it again.
It did not come with a code to access the textbook online as others have said, but that was fine as our professor only wanted us to have a hard physical copy to mark up with notes and whatnot, but buyer beware if you're looking for that.

I teach freshman English at a community college and this book has been invaluable for my students. It demystifies academic writing, and presents the skills needed for essays in a straightforward and gently humorous way. The templates are useful and give students a solid framework on which to hang their ideas. I would highly recommend this book for high school students or freshman college students who may not have had a solid background in formal essay writing.

This is a good informative text breaking down versetile academic writing style in away that is easy to understand. There are stylistic points that some will disagree with. There may be some possible other points of contention as well but it simplifies the sometimes seemingly overwhelming task of academic writing in a digestible way. The problem for me was will the flow and writing style of the the book along with the layout of the text, particularly in the kindle version. It is very confusing to follow and not user friendly at first. I literally thought the book was messed up when I first opened it because of the various fonts and page layout and the way the author just launched into the text. Once I got familiarized that went away but the author’s writing was still a little meh for me personally. Ultimately got through it and found it useful, though I have been writing academically for a while now. It’s possible I would have found it more useful had I not been writing papers for many years before it was assigned by the prof. In my masters program. If this textbook is assigned for a class you could possible pass without purchasing if no assignments come directly from the text but based on price and utility, if you plan to stay in school and will be writing, it’s worth the purchase. If you don’t you’re professor impact your grade if your writing is not up to college level and you’re not attempting to follow this method, it’d be a dead give away you’re not doing the readings.

Great way to teach your students how to paraphrase, rather than plagiarize. I guarantee only 1 in 15 will actually read it. How do I know this? I teach English composition and have experienced the crushing disappointment of my students completely ignoring their assigned reading. Overall very informative if you can get your students to actually open it.
